Custom Clothing Design - Reform

I spent a few years working at Reform Clothing. They are a world leader in designing and manufacturing custom apparel for school groups, sporting teams, and clubs. In my time there I designed hundreds of garments for their customers. I was also involved in several other major projects over the years. Here are some highlights:

THE DESIGN LAB

The Project:

To build an end-to-end system where customers can create, save, share, vote on, and order completely custom jackets.

The custom clothing industry is plagued by outdated systems of ordering and production.

Reform’s design lab seeks to take their specialised, made-to-order products, and place them in the hands of their customers.

My Role:

I served as project lead for the production all images and digital assets in the platform. I was responsible for planning, pre-prep, photoshoots, post-production, editing, pathing, compression, and formatting.

If you were to use the design lab today, every image you see is my baby.

Secondarily, I assisted the digital team in planning and designing the UX, UI, and back-end processes of the lab.

The Design Lab Assets

I worked closely with the in-house digital team and business leads in order to set and reach strict quality control metrics.

To complete all the assets within the planned time-frame, I contracted an online freelancer to assist with the post-production of the images. In order to work effectively through the project, I developed a robust processing system and a number of automations within Photoshop.

I took internal production templates and translated them in scale to the images. We painstakingly pathed them out, and built a rigorous digital hierarchy within the asset templates.

The end result? Digital assets that have already been used thousands of times since Reform’s rebrand and Design Lab launch in late 2019.

Customer garments

Creating Feelings of Belonging

In my day-to-day at Reform, I worked with our customer-facing team, developing garments for our clients. While not always inspiring work, the process of bringing our customer’s visions to life, and helping them express their unique group identity was very rewarding.

It was also nice seeing my work out in public so often.

Design TEMPLATES

Templates

In order to help their customers get started with their garment design, Reform provides a number on design templates.

I designed a lot of individual design templates and design sets over my time there. These ranged across a variety of themes and styles.

Recruitment Collateral

The team was struggling to convey a true sense of what working at Reform was like, and what I really meant to be an employee there. I was given a simple brief, a basic script, and asked to create a video that would do just that - in less than a week. I shot the video over one day, and spent another two to three days editing.

Re-brand IMAGERY

Photoshoot co-production

As Reform prepared to re-brand itself, it was apparent that new brand images were needed. I served as the project lead the production of these assets.
